CCP / LAND USE PLANNING
ICLD offers a wide range of planning services working with Indigenous communities, and government and environmental organizations in Comprehensive Community Planning (CCP), conservation planning, regional strategic environmental assessments, stewardship and agricultural planning. Our team of registered professional planners, Agrologists, and technologists provide project management, workshop facilitation, public participation processes, and GIS expertise including computer modelling and simulations for urban planning, climate change, and biodiversity conservation.
The building blocks of strong Economic Development are good governance and effective policies to support sustainable income and economic growth, in communities built by strong Indigenous owned companies and entrepreneurial ventures. Strategies developed to support growth include: foundational governance, policy, and business skills to develop sustainability and community capacity.
Strong businesses and complex ventures require feasibility studies. The feasibility of any venture is dependent on the skill sets, experience, competition, resource availability and financial viability. These in turn are dependent on sound Economic Development Plans and Community Planning. The studies when complete are in themselves executable implementation plans.
Having a strategic direction and long-term goals is a key contributor to achieve community economic goals. An effective strategic plan adjusts to address external impacts, translating opportunities into actionable plans with defined outcomes. In learning a proven Indigenous model based on systems thinking there is an understanding of inter-dependencies and inter-relationship influencers. Participants will be able to create and execute a strategic plan lifecycle (creation, revisions, monitoring/managing performance and risk), and drive future planning sessions.
Governance and leadership are integrated and inter-dependent. Our integrated approach supports participant journeys towards good governance by actively building these skills within a supportive environment. Develop experience with the differing governance models; Principles of Good Governance; Strategic Planning and management systems; Legal and Financial responsibilities of Boards and Councils; the role of Communications and Information Management; leadership styles, team dynamics and effective decision making as well as negotiating and resolving conflict.
Effective policy is essential for organizations. Policy not only provides direction in dealing with the unexpected, it is its own road map, guiding those who will be implementing it on behalf of your community. Managers, administrators, boards, councils and staff need to identify the organization’s requirements including, reviewing, developing, implementing and integrating effective policy.
Based on the Centered Leadership model, ICLD can help leadership explore the intersections and impacts in 5 areas: Meaning, Managing Energy, Positive Framing, Connecting and Engaging. With this, we identify your strengths to build a foundation of a personal leadership model. We will be able to build and expand on your goals and develop resiliency using connections and engagement to create and strengthen relationships; building communication capabilities and assessing risk and opportunities.
DEVELOPMENT OF TEAM CHARTER
A team charter is a document that is developed in a group setting that clarifies team direction while establishing boundaries; it is developed early during the forming of the team. The charter should be developed in a group session to encourage understanding and buy-in.
