Our approach is centered on fostering healthy and thriving communities, and we integrate diverse worldviews into all of our training initiatives.

Purpose

Facilitate learning and skills growth in the support of communities and their economic development for Indigenous and other marginalized peoples.

What We Do

ICLD is an Indigenous-owned partnership. Our Team of specialists works within Frameworks of Cultural Safety and Competency and provides a wide spectrum of training and diligence ranging but not limited to, Personal Development, Human Resource Development, Capacity Building to Business Management, and Indigenous Governance.

Experience

Our Team Members have sat at tables with a roster of Ministers, Departments & Agencies of the Canadian Government advocating Indigenous Perspectives and illuminating Indigenous challenges to be enacted upon with equitable status. We have gained strong relationships with many nations, communities, and individuals because of our persistence in doing so.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

TO CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT OF TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION

1

ICLD builds meaningful partnerships with communities that inform, strengthen, and empower individuals and communities through engaging in critical inquiry. We strive to form strong relationships capable of withstanding the tests of time – relationships upheld through honesty, trust, determination, and respect.

2

By respecting and employing diverse worldview frameworks in the programs that we offer, ICLD collaborates with communities to nurture their self-determination, empowerment, and capacity for economic growth and human resource development. We acknowledge that each community is different, and work with communities to identify their unique strengths and tailor opportunities to support the building of capacities in accordance with communities’ stated priorities.

3

With the awareness that every community is positioned differently regarding their stance toward ceremony and empowerment, ICLD’s team of passionate and compassionate individuals use trauma-informed practices to navigate support efforts. We know that generational trauma presents in many forms within communities, and we connect with local wellness networks to provide additional support because we believe that the communities and individuals that we support are the experts on what they need to thrive.
